As a hymnbook, All Saints Church uses Common Praise, and as a communion setting, Thorne's Mass of St. Thomas. The robed SATB choir attend the 9.30 service and sing an anthem, hymn or chant during communion. From time to time special evening services are arranged with participation by the choir. For example, choral evensong usually takes place about once a quarter. Weekly rehearsals are the norm, with additional practices for special services.

St. Mary's uses the "One church one faith one Lord" version of Hymns Old and New. The choir attend to support the singing on special occasions.

There is a novice choir for all ages ("CrEwSing") that meets weekly to practise, and which joins the robed choir at one Sunday morning service each month and for special occasions. It is led by two very competent musicians on a voluntary basis.

There are no children in the robed choir at present, but there is a Sunday school and good links with the village school. The school choir participated in the Christmas Carol service in 2010. One of the aspirations of the new appointment will be to liaise with both CrEwSing and the school and encourage young musicians.

There is an assistant organist who plays at Ewshot at present, and can cover for occasional evening services. There are several other organists available in the area prepared to play on Sunday mornings and evenings when required.

There is therefore flexibility about the exact requirements of the post. The main concern is for a good choir trainer and overall Director of Music, who may or may not be an organist. If that person is able and willing to play the organ on Sundays, there is the opportunity for them to do so, but if they prefer to limit their Sunday playing or do not have the skills then that is also possible, provided they liaise with the other musicians to provide suitable cover. Pay, in line with RSCM rates, will be set according to the combination of duties that the new Director of Music decides to accept. There are between 10 and 20 weddings a year at All Saints, for which the organist is paid £90, and 8-14 funerals for which the organist is paid £75.
